Welcome authors and readers alike to my very first BLOG. I have been given this opportunity to tell how I came to start writing, by my publishers Austin Macaulay in London. I have written six novels to date. The idea of recording details started about thirty years ago. I wanted to compare my up-bringing to the one that my daughters were experiencing. I joined a local writers club to get some ideas as to how to begin. Before I write a novel, I think about it a lot before I put pen to paper. I throw ideas about in my head to try and get a believable thread going. I hand write first on an A4 pad. To type at the beginning will not give me the right emotion I feel is beneficial. I have been told many times that my stories are as if I am talking to a friend, as I try to include a mixture of information and some humour. On occasions I have been asked “Is this bit true?” and I reply “What do you think? Do you want it to be true?” ‘The GIRL on the STAIRS’ was the novel that took the longest time to write; almost two years. My latest novel ‘FATE TICKS AWAY’ is the only time I have had a co-writer. He was very reluctant at first to be a serious contributor, but ended up really enjoying the experience. I hope you enjoy my novels. If you do, please tell all your friends.
Thank you. Patricia.
